Paraguay has been dominant over their neighbours on the rugby field until last year. Brazil won the right to participate in Round 2 of the Rugby World Cup 2011 qualifying by firstly defeating Paraguay 15-6 in Asuncion last year to take the CONSUR B title, and then defeat the NAWIRA B title holder Trinidad and Tobago, home and away 2-0.

Brazil lost 3-79 to Chile last weekend, and then 3-71 to Uruguay mid-week. Paraguay lost 7-85 to Uruguay last weekend, and then 13-34 to Chile mid-week. On those results Paraguay look the more favoured to turn the tables on their old foe.
