TEST RUGBY RESULTS 29 NOVEMBER

29.11.2014
Wales 12, South Africa 6 in Cardiff
England 26, Australia 17 at Twickenham
Brazil v Paraguay in Sao Jose Dos Campos to play

Briefly
Wales have finally broken their duck against Southern Hemisphere teams by defeating South Africa today in a close, tense match. In 30 matches against South Africa this is only Wales second win, the first was in 1999.

England heaped woes onto Australia at Twickenham as the Aussies lost their third test in a row on tour. Far too many errors from Australia.

Briefly
My coverage of world test rugby is limited at this time of the year due to work commitments. Today Monday I’m off work sick so here is my opportunity.

Australia and France slugged out a rather boring game. It was intense but error-ridden and kick-happy. France improved their commitment and pushed Australia all the way. Let’s hope the day time match next Saturday is better. On this form Australia are going to come unstuck in the forwards v South Africa and unstuck in general play v New Zealand.

South Africa were too good for Wales. Not sure where Wales goes from here but they certainly have slipped form over the last two years. South Africa looks to be a tough nut for the All Blacks to crack in the Rugby Championship.

New Zealand and England played an exciting great game of rugby. Very enjoyable to watch. The All Blacks blitz at the beginning of the second half is what puts this team above all else. Pace, timing and skills. Hansen will be concerned about allowing those two late tries by England. NZ wont get away with that against South Africa.

Ireland won the series against Argentina. Argentina are going to struggle against the other Tier 1 nations this year. They have selection and internal issues at the moment.

Samoa continued the Italian Pacific nightmare in Apia whilst Japan and Fiji look to be the teams in the Pacific Nations Cup final.

Tunisia will compete in the CAR Africa Cup 1A tournament next year with the fancied Ugandans dropping down to Division 1C.

The USA South team booked their Caribbean Championship final against Guyana with a close win over Cayman Islands.

TEST RUGBY RESULTS Saturday 22 June

22.06.2012
British and Irish Lions 23, Australia 21 in Brisbane (1st Test)
New Zealand 24, France 9 in New Plymouth (3rd test)
South Africa 56, Samoa 23 in Pretoria (Quadrangular Tournament)
Scotland 30, Italy 29 in Pretoria (Quadrangular Tournament)
Argentina 29, Georgia 18 in San Juan
Kenya 19, Uganda 13 in Nairobi (Elgon Cup 2nd Leg)
USA South 26, Trinidad Tobago 18 in Port of Spain (NACRA Caribbean Champ.Final)
Rwanda 20, Burundi 0 in Kigali (CAR Division 2, South; 1st Leg)

Briefly
The British and Irish Lions started the test series against Australia win a nail-biting win in Brisbane. Poor goal kicking cost the Aussies a win. The Lions held on grimly towards the end as the Australian scrum put pressure on their much acclaimed rival scrum. It was a great game to watch. The second test is in Melbourne next Saturday.

New Zealand wrapped up their 3 test series against France. The Kiwis didn’t dominate until the last quarter. Up to then the French were very competitive and asked searching questions of the New Zealand forwards in particular.

South Africa scotched all previews and played their best rugby this year (in fact for some time) with a 56-23 win over Samoa. Indiscipline cost the Samoans heavily.

Scotland gained a small measure of joy from the Quadrangular tournament in South Africa with a one-point win over Italy.

Argentina came away from their home clash against Georgia with a win whilst Kenya defeated Uganda with a 19-13 win away. Their 35-30 aggregate count saw them retain the Elgon Cup.

The USA South won the 2013 NACRA Caribbean Championship by defeating Trinidad Tobago away. They remained undefeated after starting the campaign back in January.

And finally Rwanda defeated Burundi at home 20-0 to take out the first leg at home.Tanzania and Swaziland pulled out of this CAR Division 2, South Tournament. The 2nd Leg date is yet to be set.

TEST RUGBY RESULTS THIS WEEKEND: 30 June

30.06.2012
Laos 58, Cambodia 7 in Phnom Phen (Asia Nations Div.5)
Botswana 69, Swaziland 3 in Gaborone (Friendly)
Congo Brazzaville v Congo Kinshasa in ? (Friendly)

Briefly
Both results were blowouts compared to my predictions.

Botswana are a good tier or 2 above Swaziland. Swaziland are really at Division 2 level. There is no word as yet from CAR about a Division 2 South competition for 2012

What were very close encounters last year between Laos and Cambodia has dramatically changed in a year. Laos swamped their neighbours. We now wait and see if there is any movement between Asia Nations Division 4 and 5.

No word from the Congo.

RUGBY TEST RESULTS UPDATED: 23 June

23.06.2012
Australia 20, Wales 19 in Sydney (3rd test)
New Zealand 60, Ireland 0 in Hamilton (3rd test)
England 14, South Africa 14 in Port Elizabeth (3rd test)
France 49, Argentina 10 in Tucuman (2nd test)
Scotland 17, Samoa 16 in Apia
Fiji 29, Tonga 17 in Suva (Pacific Nations Cup)
Canada 31, Georgia 12 in Vancouver
Italy 30, United States 10 in Houston
Bulgaria 29, Hungary 26 in Sofia (ENC 2D Playoff)
Bermuda 18, Guyana 0 in Hamilton (WCQ Americas; NACRA Final)

Briefly
England lasted out to draw against South Africa. Big disappointment for SA fans.

France crushed Argentina in Tucuman. This was not Argentina’s strongest XV but even so!

Canada defeated Georgia which was predicted as did Italy over USA.

Big upset was Bulgaria’s win against Hungary. The result? Bulgaria join Cyprus in ENC 2C, whilst Hungary drop to ENC 2D.

So Far
Wow! New Zealand scored 21 points in the first 20 minutes of their test match against Ireland and basically that was that. They went on to score another 40 points and Ireland were dead and buried.

Australia held on to a one point lead and again just pipped Wales for the second week in a row.

Scotland and Fiji rounded off test rugby in Oceania with wins against Samoa and Tonga respectively.
