In an amazing game of fluctuating fortunes with a red card in the mix, Russia held Spain 41-37. Spain scored a converted try in the last play of the match.

In Asia 5 Nations Japan continued to dominate and gained maximum points against Hong Kong whilst Korea blitzed Kazakhstan 87-18 in Almaty. Kazakhstan needs to defeat UAE and get points against Hong Kong to avoid relegation.

Hungary, with a recall of some veterans, put more ohmph into their game to secure a 28-14 away win against Norway.

In the World Cup qualifying Americas section, Bermuda struggled against Cayman Islands at home scoring a vital try in the second half for victory.
