Big upset by Kazakhstan. The first in the new Asia 5 Nations. Also Croatia's win over Sweden was not expected by me. I think Israel
ReplyDeletes 70-8 score is a record for them. Lithuania charges on. 13th win in a row?
Very interesting how all of the recently promoted teams in D3 (Lithuania, Slovenia, and Greece) have done so well this year. Throw in Israel too, who had to defend their position in a relegation match against Cyprus.
ReplyDeleteDoes this suggest that there isn't much difference between the levels in D3, compared to the difference between 3A and 2B or between 2B and 2A, etc?
(And how much would it have sucked for Israel to have had to have spent two years in 3D when they have a fair shot of winning promotion to 3B before 2009 is up.
I suspect the differences between some of the divisions aren't that great. They could almost have a round robin and then play out to a final in some combined divisons. Some of these later games are effectively 'dead'( unless you are looking towards round 2 in 2009-10). Whereas a semi-final and then a final makes every game count.
