TEST RUGBY RESULTS: 12-13 February

My apologies for the lack of coverage last weekend. Our house was full of relations who descended upon us to help celebrate my 60th Birthday.

13.02.2011
France 25, Ireland 22 in Dublin (6 Nations)

12.02.2011
England 59, Italy 13 at Twickenham (6 Nations)
Wales 24, Scotland 6 at Murrayfield (6 Nations)
Georgia 60, Spain 0 in Tblissi (ENC 1A)
Portugal 21, Russia 19 in Sotchi (ENC 1A)
Romania v Ukraine in Odessa (ENC 1A)-Postponed
Belgium 20, Moldova 5 in Brussels (ENC 1B)

Briefly
Ireland scored 3 tries to 1 against France but still lost. England crushed Italy and on form look to be the 6 Nations champion for 2011. Georgia crushed Spain and they look to be head and shoulders above the rest of the European Nations Cup Division 1A. Portugal gained it’s second win in a row against the odds and move into second-best.

An iced up field in Odessa prevented any play in the Romania v Ukraine match whilst Belgium defeated Moldova 20-5 in a hard-fought match in which the scoreline did not reflect the closeness of the game.

  1. Congrats on your 60th. Would like to see a team like Moldova (where football isn't completely dominant) go the same way as Georgia and have rugby become a strong sport there. Its already fairly popular in (western) Ukraine.

  2. Georgia is a very good role model for nations like Moldova as a way of advancing. Unlike Georgia though, Moldova do not have a player presence in French club rugby as far as I'm aware. They either play in Russia or Romania.
