JAPAN v PHILIPPINES: World Cup Qualifying Asia Five Nations

20.04.2013

Feature Match No.1

Preview
The 2013 Asia Five nations kicks off in the Japanese city of Fukuoka The Philippines, whose rise in Asian rugby has been remarkable, will take on the top team in Asia.

I’d expect it to be a win for Japan, possible fairly comfortably in the end. The Philippines has a speedy and elusive looking backline but I expect the problems they will have will be in the forwards. Still they could put up a real fight. Only two of their players are from clubs in the Philippines. The rest have considerable experience in Japan and also New Zealand, Australia, The USA and England.

These two teams have never met before.

Prediction: Japan by 60 points.
